What “processed in your browser” means

When you open a PDF in PDFediters, the file is read directly by JavaScript running on your own computer or phone. Merging, compressing and signing all happen in your browser's memory. The finished PDF is handed back to you as a download. At no point is the file sent over the internet to us or to any third party — so there is nothing for us to see, store, leak or sell.

Why this is more private than most online PDF tools

Many popular “online” PDF tools work by uploading your document to their servers, processing it there, and sending it back. That means a copy of your file — which might be a contract, an ID, a payslip or a medical record — sits on someone else's computer, at least temporarily. With PDFediters there is no upload step at all, so there is no remote copy to worry about.

Is it safe to merge, compress or sign a PDF online?

With a client-side tool like PDFediters, yes. Because your file is never transmitted, the usual risks of online PDF tools — data breaches, retention, and third-party access — do not apply. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the tools will still work, which is a simple way to prove nothing is being uploaded.
